A pregnant woman, identified as Chinelo Francis, a mother of three from Ebonyi State, was allegedly assaulted by her husband, Peter, in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to a report by People of Ebonyi, the incident occurred after Chinelo requested money from her husband to prepare a meal. She said Peter claimed he had not made any money that day and later instructed her to close her shop and return home with him.
Chinelo reportedly declined, explaining that the period was usually her busiest time for sales. However, after closing her shop and returning home later that night, she was allegedly attacked by her husband.
The assault reportedly left her with serious injuries, leading to her hospitalization for treatment. The report further stated that Peter fled the community shortly after the incident.
The development has sparked concern among residents, with calls for justice and protection for the victim. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
