The victims were part of a chama made up of employees from a company based in EPZ Athi River.

On Sunday, the group travelled to a rural village to visit the parents of one of their colleagues in an event meant to show appreciation to the parents and strengthen their social bonds.

Witnesses said the day was filled with joy, singing, dancing and gift-giving as the group spent time with the elderly couple, with videos of the fun times in the event now emerging.

The celebrations culminated in prayers led by a pastor before the visitors embarked on their journey back to Athi River.
