Football icon Sir David Beckham is to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed the former England captain will be honoured at a ceremony on Friday, June 12, at 6819 Hollywood Boulevard. Actor Tom Cruise and Sir David’s wife Victoria will speak at the event, with the 51-year-old receiving the walk’s 2,849th star.
Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said: “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome David Beckham to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“David Beckham’s recognition with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in the Sports Entertainment category comes at a fitting moment as the United States prepares to host the FIFA World Cup.
“Beckham’s role in elevating soccer’s profile in America and his lasting influence on sports, entertainment, and global culture make this honour especially meaningful.”
The recognition comes ahead of the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup, which gets underway this month in the US, Mexico and Canada.
Sir David’s playing career spanned 20 years and saw him become the first English player to win league titles in four countries: England, Spain, the United States and France.
In 2018, he became co-owner of MLS club Inter Miami, which won its first MLS Cup last year.
Alongside his football career, he has supported a number of charity causes, including serving as a goodwill ambassador for humanitarian aid organisation Unicef since 2005.
Last year, Sir David received a knighthood for his services to sport and charity.
