Suspected Bandits Kill Two Vigilantes in Plateau Community

Plateau State, Nigeria — Two members of a local vigilante group have been killed in Ta-Hoss community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, following an early morning attack by suspected armed bandits.

According to security sources, the incident occurred on Thursday when the victims were on their way to carry out routine community security duties. They were reportedly ambushed by armed men who opened fire on them before fleeing the scene.

The victims were identified as Mr. Dalyop Zaram and Mr. Davou Dalyop, both residents and active members of the local vigilante structure supporting security operations in the area.

Residents said the attack caused panic in the community, as it highlights the growing insecurity affecting rural settlements in the region. The vigilantes are often relied upon to complement formal security agencies due to limited manpower in remote areas.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation of arrests, while security operatives were said to have begun investigations into the incident.
