The Governing Council of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has approved the appointment of Prof. Princewill Chike as the institution’s 10th Vice-Chancellor.
Chike is set to assume office on July 13, coinciding with the end of the tenure of outgoing Vice-Chancellor Prof. Owunari Georgewill on the same date.
University spokesperson Dr. Sam Kpenu announced the appointment in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Friday, confirming that it was approved by the university’s 17th Governing Council following the conclusion of a formal selection process.
He noted that the exercise was carried out in strict accordance with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act and the University of Port Harcourt Act, involving both a Search Team and a Joint Council-Senate Selection Board.
