US Deports Nigerian After Domestic Violence, Other Convictions

As part of its ongoing immigration enforcement efforts, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement has deported a Nigerian national, Ayodeji Ajayi, following multiple criminal convictions, including domestic violence, reports thegazellenews.com.

The department, which made this disclosure through a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday,23 June, 2026 said Ajayi had remained in the country illegally after entering on a student visa nearly two decades ago.

“Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, of Nigeria, entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and eventually left school, but failed to leave the country,” the agency said, adding that instead of departing the US after leaving school, Ajayi accumulated a lengthy criminal record.

“Instead, he stayed in the US and got to work on a lengthy rap sheet” that includes convictions for domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation and obstruction,” the agency said, just as it also added that his criminal history also includes charges of “kidnapping, rape and family neglect.”

The agency, while attributing  the deportation to the immigration enforcement policies of President Donald Trump said, “Thanks to @POTUS’ commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly.”

Although the agency announced that Ajayi would be removed from the country, it did not disclose when the deportation was carried out or provide further details about the offences, including where the convictions occurred or the status of the additional criminal charges.

The deportation comes amid the Trump administration’s continued crackdown on undocumented immigrants with criminal records, with immigration authorities stepping up enforcement actions and removals across the United States.
