Constable Hassan Juma Moyo was among the security officers participating in the Madaraka Day parade at Wajir Stadium.

Ndungu Nyoro reports that the officer suddenly collapsed in full view of colleagues, officials and members of the public who had gathered to mark the country’s 63rd anniversary of self-governance.

Witnesses said the officer appeared to be carrying out his parade duties normally before he unexpectedly fell to the ground.

The incident prompted immediate concern from colleagues and emergency responders at the venue.

He was quickly rushed to Wajir County Referral Hospital, where medical personnel worked urgently to save his life.

Despite their efforts, Constable Moyo was pronounced dead at around 10 am. The tragic incident cast a shadow over what was otherwise meant to be a day of national pride and celebration.

Those who had gathered at the stadium were left shocked as news of the officer’s death spread through the venue.
