According to a report by Fox News, diplomatic tensions escalated significantly during a weekend of intensive negotiations in Switzerland, where President Donald Trump reportedly issued stern warnings to Iranian officials amid discussions surrounding regional security and global energy routes. The talks, which took place near Lake Lucerne, were marked by sharp exchanges as both sides sought to advance their positions on a range of contentious issues.
Fox News host Jesse Watters, speaking on Monday evening, described the negotiations as highly confrontational and revealed details of the rhetoric allegedly employed by the American delegation. According to his account, tensions intensified after Iranian representatives reportedly threatened to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping corridors and a critical route for global oil exports.
Watters explained that Iranian officials attempted to use the possibility of disrupting the waterway as leverage during the discussions. He added that the Iranian delegation accused Israel of contributing to instability in the region, alleging that existing agreements had been undermined by military actions in Lebanon.
According to Watters, President Trump responded with a direct warning to Iranian negotiators, stating, “You close it and you won’t have a country. You won’t even make it back to your country.”
The reported remarks were not limited to broader policy issues. Watters alleged that Trump also directed strong comments toward Iran’s leadership, specifically warning the country’s president about his public statements and conduct during the negotiations.
According to the Fox News account, Trump delivered another blunt message, declaring, “You better watch your mouth or we’ll take over the rest of the country.”
