Zenith Bank Opens Osubi Branch, Expands Delta Reach

Zenith Bank Plc has strengthened its footprint in Delta State with the inauguration of a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, becoming the first commercial bank to establish operations in the community.

The development underscores the bank’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and expanding access to banking services for individuals, businesses, and underserved communities across the country.

The branch was officially commissioned on Wednesday by the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in the presence of senior government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, customers, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori described the establishment of the branch as a strong endorsement of Delta State’s economic potential and investment climate.

According to him, Zenith Bank’s decision to expand its operations in the state reflects growing confidence in the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, drive economic development, and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

“This is a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state. It shows that the investments we have made in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are producing tangible results. When a leading financial institution such as Zenith Bank expands its presence in Delta State, it sends a powerful message that Delta State is open for business and ready for greater investment,” the governor said.

He also highlighted the significance of the new branch to residents of the host community, noting that it is currently the only bank operating within Okpe Local Government Area.

“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasised because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he added.

In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, commended Governor Oborevwori for his support towards private sector growth and economic development in the state.

She noted that the establishment of the branch was made possible by the conducive business environment fostered by the state government and acknowledged the governor’s contribution of the land on which the facility was built.

“We are deeply grateful to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, for his unwavering support and partnership, and for finding time to personally commission the branch today. His generous donation of the land on which this branch is built is a testament to his administration’s commitment to fostering private sector investment and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” she said.

Umeoji described the Osubi branch as Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State and a major milestone in the institution’s longstanding relationship with the state.

She reiterated the bank’s commitment to supporting economic growth through innovative financial solutions, access to finance, and capacity-building initiatives targeted at individuals, small and medium-scale enterprises, women entrepreneurs, and other critical segments of the economy.

According to her, the new branch is expected to stimulate economic activities in Osubi and neighbouring communities while supporting broader efforts aimed at enhancing socio-economic development across Delta State.

The opening of the branch further reinforces Zenith Bank’s strategy of extending quality banking services to more communities and contributing to sustainable economic growth through increased financial access and inclusion.
