2027 Ogun Guber Race: Ambassador Sarafadeen Ishola Reaffirms Support for Yayi

Former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola, reaffirmed his full backing for the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

Ishola made the reaffirmation during a consultative meeting with the Egba League of Imams and Alfas in Abeokuta, where he lauded Senator Adeola Yayi’s track record, character, and vision for the state.

Expressing his full support for the senator’s candidacy, Ambassador Ishola, who had earlier collapsed his political structure in the state in support of the APC’s governorship candidate, described Senator Adeola Yayi as the ideal leader to drive the next phase of development in Ogun State.

“I have no doubt about your capacity and experience to govern and improve the fortunes of Ogun State. You have my full support, now and forever, because what is important is the development of Ogun State, and I know you are also committed to Ogun State like I am.”

Reflecting on his own service to the state and the nation, Ishola emphasised the shared dedication required to move Ogun State forward. “Ogun State has been of immense benefit to me. I have served in diverse capacities in Ogun State and nationally. I served as Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Special Assistant to the Honourable Minister of State for Finance, Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, and Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. As such, I am duty-bound to align with the position of the party and support the progress of Ogun State,” he said.

Senator Adeola Yayi’s gubernatorial campaign continues to gain significant momentum, with a growing wave of endorsements from diverse stakeholders across Ogun State.

His candidacy has been formally backed by the Ijebu Traditional Council of Obas, traditional rulers in Yewaland, community leaders in Ogun Waterside, and the Arewa Community in Ogun State.

In addition to traditional support, the APC candidate has received endorsements from political heavyweights, including former governors Aremo Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun and the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
