The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Annex Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, has called for deeper collaboration with the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to enhance criminal investigations in the state.
AIG Akpanudom led members of his management team on a courtesy visit to the LSSTF office in Lagos on Monday, July 14, 2026.
The visit was aimed at strengthening synergy between the Police and the trust fund in support of security, crime prevention and effective justice delivery in Lagos.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, congratulated the AIG on his appointment. He praised his dedication and commitment to the Nigeria Police Force.
Dr. Ogunsan reaffirmed LSSTF’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies operating in Lagos State. He said the partnership was critical to keeping the state safe.
As part of the support, the LSSTF CEO donated 50 bulletproof vests and ballistic helmets to the FCID Annex, Lagos. He also gave assurances of further assistance to the Command to boost operational efficiency.
In his remarks, AIG Akpanudom expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the Inspector-General of Police. He also thanked IGP Olatunji R. Disu for entrusting him with the leadership of FCID Annex, Lagos.
The AIG commended LSSTF for its continuous support to the Nigeria Police Force. He specifically acknowledged training programmes extended to detectives at the FCID Annex which have improved their investigative capacity and professionalism.
He reiterated the commitment of FCID Annex, Lagos, to the people-centric policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police through strategic partnerships with stakeholders.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a commemorative plaque to the Executive Secretary by the AIG. It was described as a symbol of the enduring partnership between both institutions.
The visit concluded with both parties restating their commitment to strengthening security architecture and improving justice delivery in Lagos State.
