Arsenal, Besiktas agree permanent transfer for Trossard

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Belgian forward Leandro Trossard.

The Premier League champions announced the agreement on Tuesday, confirming that the transfer fee has been settled and the player has been cleared to complete the remaining formalities of the move.

In a statement, Arsenal said: “We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard.”

The club added: “With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club.”

Arsenal said the transfer will be confirmed once the process has been completed.

“We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed,” the club said.

The move is expected to end Trossard’s spell at the North London club, subject to the successful completion of his medical and other transfer formalities.

Trossard joined Arsenal in January 2023 after completing a £27 million move, including add-ons, from Brighton and Hove Albion.

He became the Gunners’ first signing of that January transfer window.

He leaves the club after helping Arsenal win the Premier League title last season, ending the club’s 22-year wait for the English top-flight crown.

The Belgian also won the FA Community Shield with Arsenal in 2023 and played a key role in the club’s run to the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League final.

On the international stage, Trossard impressed for Belgium at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, scoring twice against New Zealand in the group stage before the Red Devils were eliminated 2-1 by eventual finalists Spain in the quarter-finals.

Besiktas also confirmed the player’s arrival in Turkey by publishing photographs of him on the club’s official website with the caption: “Leandro Trossard arrives in Istanbul.”
