Change of Nationality: I’ve gone past Nigeria — Ofili

Estranged Nigeria sprinter, Favour Ofili, has said she has gone past Nigeria, adding that all she is doing now is to find peace following the crisis over her change of nationality.

Ofili made this revelation when she featured on a radio programme on Tuesday morning.

The 23-year-old said she was surprised to read and listen to various news across Nigeria about her.

The sprinter said the most important of the news items was about the Nigeria Sports Commission (NSC) paying her grants.

According to her, she last spoke with any official of either the Athletic Federation of Nigeria and the NSC in 2024 after the Paris Olympic Games investigation orchestrated by the NSC.

She added that she is currently enjoying her career as she has peace of mind and has been performing well in most of her recent races.

Ofili said: “I’m in the right direction.

“The past three months has been the best month for me.

“It’s been the best.

“I’ve gotten a lot done that you can’t even imagine.

“I’ve gotten a lot done for myself, my future.

“A lot.

“And I’m enjoying my peace.

“In Nigeria, people are saying things that they don’t know, but at the end of the day, it’s all about me.

“I have not been in contact with any of the officials since 2024.

“I don’t know where they have been getting information that they pay this or that.

“For me to get my peace, then I have to get off things that don’t give me peace or drain me.

“So, like I said, I have not been in contact with any of them after the Paris investigation that they said they did.

“At the end of the day, the same people are still in position.

“I don’t know where they’re getting the information.

“They paid for one grant, they paid this one.

“I don’t know where they are getting the information from.

“But I’m not in contact with them.

“I love you guys though, but at the end of the day, I’m choosing me.

“It’s me against me.”
