A former Super Eagles player Obafemi Martins has stirred debate on social media after sharing a controversial post directed at Satan.
In the post, Obafemi wrote: “More than 1 million Churches, 4 billion members, 200 religions, fighting 1 Satan for more than 6000 years. Satan please die na.”
The statement quickly attracted mixed reactions, with many users sharing different religious and personal interpretations.
Lanrey wrote: “Why are human beings full of wickedness? Why are human beings doing evil? Who is satan? What does he represent and stand for?
“Literally, I want to believe that it’s the activities of Satan in human’s life that is meant to die not the Satan himself. Because the bible stated it clearly in Rev. 20:1-3: Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
“2. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
“3. and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.”
Ephraim commented: “If Satan dies, what will churches now be praying against?”
Kerrently also weighed in, writing: “I know that some of you won’t be comfortable with this but I still have to say it. Satan is not the problem, God is.
“If you understand God and how he works, you will understand that Satan is just an unfortunate victim of manipulation. Argue with your Bible teacher and pastor not me.”
