Ogun Youth Leaders Unite Ahead Of 2027, Demand Inclusive Governance

The leadership of the four major socio-cultural youth associations in Ogun State has formed a united front ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that political actors seeking the support of young people must present concrete policies that address youth development and inclusion.

Operating under the banner of the RIYE G4 Youth Leadership of Ogun State, the leaders said they had resolved to speak with one voice on issues affecting the state’s future and would no longer allow politicians to exploit regional divisions for electoral gains.

The resolution was reached during a closed-door meeting held in Abeokuta, where the presidents of the Egba, Ijebu, Yewa and Remo youth associations deliberated on the role of youths in shaping the political future of Ogun State.

The communiqué, jointly signed by the four leaders, stressed that unity among the four zones would remain the group’s guiding principle as preparations begin for the 2027 polls.

“The era of dividing the youths of Ogun State along zonal affinity for political advantage must come to an end. The RIYE G4 stands as a united and indivisible platform. The interest of one zone is the collective interest of all,” the leaders stated.

They described young people as the backbone of Ogun State’s economy, innovation, democratic participation and social development, insisting that youth welfare, education, employment, entrepreneurship, empowerment and inclusion in governance should occupy a central place in the programmes of political parties and aspirants.

The group also declared that it would engage all political parties and candidates but maintained that any endorsement would be based on competence, integrity, credibility, equity and commitment to the development of Ogun State.

According to the communiqué, political parties and governorship aspirants must move beyond symbolic appointments and provide measurable policies that guarantee meaningful youth participation in governance.

The youth leaders further urged politicians to embrace issue-based campaigns while calling on young people across Egba, Ijebu, Remo and Yewa divisions to remain peaceful and actively participate in the democratic process.

They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting unity, security, equity and sustainable development in Ogun State, expressing optimism that a collective approach by youths would strengthen democratic governance and improve leadership outcomes in the state.

The communiqué was signed by the National President of the Egba Youth Association, Hon. Adekunle Adewale Rasaq; National President of the Ijebu Youth Association, Hon. Pastor Okikiola Fayomi; President of the Yewa Youth Association, Comrade Isikalu Olanrewaju Alamu; and President of the Remo Youth Association, Comrade Eleda Muyiwa.
