Suspected Bandits Kill Former Benue SSG David Salifu Following Wukari–Makurdi Road Attack

Former Secretary to the Benue State Government (SSG), Prof. David Salifu, has died after sustaining gunshot injuries during an attack by suspected bandits along the Wukari–Makurdi Road.

According to reports, the incident occurred while Salifu was travelling from Wukari in Taraba State to Makurdi, Benue State. Armed men reportedly ambushed his vehicle in what was believed to be an attempted kidnapping.

During the attack, the former SSG was shot and sustained serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) in Makurdi for emergency medical treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, he was confirmed dead in the early hours of Friday.

Prof. Salifu served as Secretary to the Benue State Government during the administration of former Governor Gabriel Suswam. He was also an academic and lecturer at the Federal University, Wukari, where he was widely respected for his contributions to education and public service.
