Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi will miss Beşiktaş’s home clash with Alanyaspor after receiving a one-match suspension in the Turkish Super Lig.
The midfielder picked up his fourth booking of the season during the Eagles’ narrow 1-0 defeat to Fenerbahçe last weekend.
Wilfred Ndidi has been a steady presence since arriving in Istanbul last summer, contributing two goals and one assist in 25 league appearances.
Beşiktaş currently sit fourth in the table and remain firmly in the hunt for a strong finish as the season heads into its decisive stretch.
Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu continues to dominate headlines with a remarkable scoring run for Trabzonspor.
Onuachu scored again in a 2-1 win over title rivals Galatasaray, taking his tally to 22 league goals in just 25 appearances. The towering striker now leads the scoring charts in Turkey and has six matches left to chase history.
According to Turkish outlet Aksam Spor, the 31-year-old needs three more goals to surpass the club’s single-season foreign scoring record of 24 set by Alexander Sørloth during the 2019 to 2020 campaign, before the Norwegian moved to Atlético Madrid.
Onuachu is also within reach of an even bigger milestone. Four more goals would see him eclipse the long-standing all-time single-season mark of 25 set by Shota Arveladze.
