Arsenal have been handed a timely fitness lift ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Sporting CP, with Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhaes both returning to training.
NOP NIGERIA reports that Rice, 27, withdrew from the England national team during the March international break after a medical assessment and sat out Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Southampton.
Gabriel also missed out after being forced off with a knee problem during the loss on the south coast.
Both players trained with the first team at London Colney on Monday as Mikel Arteta’s squad prepared to travel to Lisbon for the opening leg.
There was further encouragement for the Gunners as Leandro Trossard joined the session, although Bukayo Saka remained absent after leaving England duty early.
Arsenal head into the tie looking to halt a slide after back-to-back cup setbacks.
Their FA Cup exit followed defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.
Despite the cup disappointments, the north London side remain firmly on course domestically.
They sit nine points clear at the top of the Premier League and resume their title push against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
Manager Mikel Arteta and goalkeeper David Raya are due to address the media in Portugal later on Monday.
