The Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory asking Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country at the earliest, in light of recent developments in the region.

In the advisory dated April 8, 2026, the embassy said the directive is in continuation of its April 7 advisory and urged Indian nationals to “expeditiously exit Iran” in coordination with the mission and using routes suggested by it.

The embassy also reiterated that there should be no attempt to approach any international land border without prior consultation and coordination with the mission, underlining the need for structured movement amid the evolving situation.
Emergency contact numbers and an email ID have been shared for Indian nationals requiring assistance.

The advisory comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions in West Asia, where recent days have seen military exchanges between Iran and Israel, alongside US involvement in the region. A temporary two-week ceasefire has since been announced, with both the United States and Iran indicating a pause in hostilities to allow for diplomatic efforts.

India has been issuing successive advisories to its nationals in Iran as the situation continues to evolve, urging caution and close coordination with the embassy.
