The Kaduna state governor, Uba Sani, on Friday, formalised a partnership with ASI Engineering Limited, aimed at strengthening electricity supply and expanding infrastructure across the state.

Details of the agreement were disclosed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, who noted that the deal was concluded during the Kaduna Electric Franchise Energy Summit held in London.

The state will commit about N15 billion in exchange for a 5.54 per cent equity stake in the firm, which effectively translates to a 4.13 per cent indirect holding in Kaduna Electric.

Officials described the move as part of a “wider economic strategy” focused on industrial growth, investment inflow, and improved living standards, with stable electricity supply identified as a key driver.

The governor’s engagement at the summit, it stated, underscored Kaduna’s readiness to collaborate with partners and attract investments that can enhance energy access and support development goals.

During the event, Sani also engaged with fellow governors from Zamfara and Kebbi states, as discussions centred on regional cooperation and scalable energy solutions.

The government maintained that the investment represents a strategic effort to secure long-term energy stability, boost industrial activities, and improve the welfare of residents.
