
Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has donated school uniforms and dozens of writing materials to Ganduje Nomadic Primary School, Bakin Kamanda in Dansoshiya community, Kiru local government area of Kano on Thursday,
Speaking to newsmen after th distribution exercise, the Executive Director of CITAD, Yunusa Zakari Ya’u, said the reason for the donation was to improve the nomadic education among Fulani people in the state.
He said, through the donations, the Fulani children will be encouraged to go to school and this would help their parents by providing them with uniform and other learning materials.
He added that Fulani was left behind in terms of education, urging them to always encourage their children to have education, both Islamic and western, which he said will improve the standard of their lives.
He said, through providing quality education to them, insurgencies happening in the country would be eradicated.
He urged community leaders and philanthropists to always assist the people, especially government, by providing educational materials to them.
Representing the Kano State Chairman of State Universal Educational Board, Deputy Director of Nomadic Education Department, Ghali Sule, expressed gratitude to the centre for its efforts to provide inclusive education to Fulani families in the state.
He said the Centre has provided a lot of supporting activities to make education possible to fulani and ensure parents are sending their children to school.
In his address, the district head of Kiru Dan Majen Kano, who was represented by the village head of Dangora Yusuf Harisu, warned parents in the area to ensure their wards are sent to school, instead of leaving them at home doing another thing like rearing animals.
He said that education would not stop them from doing their daily businesses.
Also speaking at the occasion, the head teacher of the school, Malam Nasiru Ibrahim Dangora, thanked CITAD for the initiative and support given for educational development, especially nomadic in the state, while assuring them that the performance and enrolment will change through the contribution given to them.
