The Osun State Government on Tuesday, launched a Security Trust Fund designed to enhance crime prevention through the deployment of modern equipment and technology for security operatives, activating a law passed by the State House of Assembly 14 years ago.
Through the fund, the state government, private sector operators, individuals and groups will pool resources to finance security operations and provide equipment for security agencies.
The Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Trust Fund, Kunle Adegoke, while addressing journalists in Osogbo, said Governor Ademola Adeleke conceived the initiative to strengthen the state’s security architecture through collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility.
Adegoke said the fund was not merely a financial mechanism but a platform for partnership that would bring together government, the private sector, development partners, and well-meaning individuals to support security agencies with the tools they need.
“From modern equipment and technology to training, logistics, and intelligence gathering, this initiative is designed to address critical gaps and enhance operational efficiency,” he said.
He assured stakeholders that transparency and accountability would guide the fund’s operations.
“Transparency and accountability will be the guiding principles of this fund. We have established a governance structure that ensures proper oversight, prudent management, and regular public reporting. Every contribution will be tracked, and every expenditure will be justified. The trust of our people is paramount, and we earned it and intend to maintain it,” Adegoke said.

He encouraged the business community to invest in the fund as a direct contribution to the protection of their assets and the stability of the market environment, and urged residents to support the initiative beyond financial contributions.
“Vigilance, cooperation with law enforcement, and commitment to peace are invaluable,” he said.
Adegoke also addressed security agencies directly, saying, “This initiative is a testament to our confidence in your dedication and service. We are committed to supporting you as you continue to safeguard our communities with professionalism and integrity.
“This launch is not the end, it is the beginning of a sustained effort. Together, we can build a safer Osun where families sleep peacefully, entrepreneurs invest boldly, and our youth can aspire without fear.”
The Secretary of the Implementation Committee, Mr Kunle Oyedipe, said Adeleke had made a bold move that deserved the backing of individuals and groups in the state, and explained how the fund would be governed.
“The whole essence of the Trust Fund is to get PPP arrangements towards funding security. There is a board in place consisting of critical stakeholders. The fund is designed such that whenever there is a need for infrastructure within the security, we approach the Security Chief, as the Governor of the state, and he will pass the request to the board for action,” Oyedipe said.
