The senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has been tipped to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and unlock the economic potential of Ogun State if elected governor in 2027.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, recently emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, putting to rest weeks of speculation over who would clinch the party’s ticket among several aspirants.

Speaking with journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday, a chieftain of the APC and Convener of the Ogun West Initiative, Olootu Bolaji Adeniji, described Adeola’s emergence as a “historic opportunity” to promote balanced leadership and inclusive governance in the state.

Adeniji said the current administration had laid a solid foundation in critical sectors, including infrastructure, education, and industrial development, adding that Adeola possesses the capacity to sustain and expand the gains.

He said, “Governor Abiodun has done remarkably well in setting Ogun State on the path of sustainable growth. What is needed now is a leader who can consolidate on these legacies and move the state to the next phase of socio-economic development. Senator Adeola has the vision, competence, and political will to fully harness Ogun’s vast potential.”

The APC chieftain also argued that Adeola’s candidacy presents an opportunity for Ogun West, which he described as historically marginalised in the state’s political leadership, to produce the next governor.

He noted that the lawmaker’s legislative experience and background in financial management position him to drive people-oriented policies and accelerate development across the state.

“Our consensus candidate’s financial expertise, vast legislative experience, and track record in delivering people-focused projects and social services place him in a vantage position to harness Ogun’s industrial and economic potential,” Adeniji added.

While expressing confidence in Adeola’s capacity to deliver democratic dividends, Adeniji urged party members and residents of the state to support his candidacy.

He added that an Adeola-led administration would prioritise infrastructure, industrial growth, youth empowerment, and rural development, with a view to strengthening Ogun State’s status as a major economic hub in Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
