According to recent reports, Apple will release the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September with a familiar look and a number of hardware enhancements.
The stated modifications hint at improved battery life, camera performance, connectivity, and pricing stability in India.
Apple’s next-generation iPhones are still three months away, but the rumour mill is already working overtime.
With September historically being Apple’s busiest smartphone launch month, interest is now shifting to what the firm may have planned for the iPhone 18 Pro series.
As we approach the second half of 2026, leaks and analyst reports are starting to provide a clearer image of the future products. If the allegations are correct, Apple may be planning several significant changes for its premium iPhones, including a faster chipset, camera improvements, a larger battery, a better Dynamic Island experience, and a new internal modem.
Interestingly, this year’s lineup may differ from what many purchasers are accustomed to. According to reports, Apple may not release a basic iPhone 18 or iPhone 18e alongside the Pro models. At the same time, the business is rumored to be preparing for the release of its long-awaited foldable iPhone, which has been a source of conjecture for years.
For now, however, the attention is firmly on the iPhone 18, Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. From predicted India pricing and launch timelines to battery, display, camera, and performance advancements, here’s a look at everything that’s appeared online so far.
Familiar design, but with a cleaner front
The iPhone 18 Pro variants are expected to follow Apple’s current premium design language. According to leaks, the triple-camera arrangement and big rear camera module found on current Pro iPhones will stay. Apple is apparently making small changes to the rear panel finish to achieve a more seamless transition between the device’s frame and back.
The larger visual change may be noticeable from the front. Earlier reports stated that Apple could relocate Face ID components behind the panel, but more recent leaks hint that such technology may not be available yet. Instead, the corporation is purportedly planning to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island.
According to tipster Ice Universe, the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro series could be roughly 35% narrower than its present version. If this is accurate, users will have slightly more usable screen space while keeping the feature.
The display sizes are expected to remain substantially unchanged. The normal Pro model is expected to have a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max may continue with a 6.9-inch screen. Some sources suggest that the Pro model will have a nearly 7-inch panel, however there is currently no compelling evidence to back up that assertion. Apple is also believed to be using a more efficient LTPO+ display technology, which may help to cut power consumption.
Battery improvements
Battery life has become a crucial selling factor for flagship smartphones, and Apple may be attempting to push it even farther with the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
According to leaks, the handset could have a battery capacity ranging from 5,100mAh to 5,200mAh, making it slightly larger than the previous iteration. According to reports, Apple may make the Pro Max somewhat thicker to accommodate the larger capacity.
When combined with a more efficient display and a next-generation chipset, the larger battery could result in significant improvements in real-world endurance.
Major camera improvements?
Apple is reportedly rumored to be developing various camera enhancements. One of the most talked-about modifications is a potential variable aperture system for the primary camera. Such a feature would allow the camera to control the quantity of incoming light, perhaps offering users more freedom in a variety of shooting situations.
The corporation is also apparently testing a new three-layer stacked image sensor created by Samsung. The improved sensor is supposed to improve image quality by lowering noise, increasing responsiveness, and providing a wider dynamic range.
The telephoto camera may also gain notice. Leaks indicate a larger aperture, which could help capture brighter photographs in low-light conditions. Some rumors have also suggested that Apple is investigating teleconverter-inspired technology to improve zoom performance, though details are limited at this time.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max: Leaked price, design, display, battery, and more
1. New chip, next-generation modem.
The new A20 processor from Apple is slated to power the iPhone 18 Pro series. The chip is apparently being produced utilizing TSMC’s latest 2nm process, indicating yet another significant improvement in efficiency and performance.
According to reports, the new chipset might provide up to 15% greater performance while increasing power economy by roughly 30% over its predecessor.
Apple is also rumored to be adopting a new packaging method that moves memory closer to the processor, perhaps boosting Apple Intelligence functions while freeing up internal space.
Connectivity could also increase significantly. The company is anticipated to release its next-generation C2 modem, which could support mmWave 5G and improve satellite communication capabilities.
Future satellite features may expand beyond emergency services. According to reports, Apple is looking into expanding satellite connectivity, which might potentially offer internet access in areas without standard network coverage as well as support for third-party applications.
2. New color options.
Apple may revamp the Pro series’ color palette this year. One of the supposedly under consideration colors is a dark cherry finish, which is described as a rich crimson with slight purple tones. Other leaked alternatives include silver, dark grey, and light blue.
iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max: India price (Expected/leaked)
The main issue for many purchasers ahead of Apple’s upcoming release is whether the corporation will boost prices again. Current leaks, however, indicate that the iPhone 18 Pro series may not receive a significant price increase despite the expected hardware advancements this year.
According to respected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is unlikely to make a significant increase to the iPhone 18 Pro series. One likely explanation is that the business increased the pricing of the iPhone 17 Pro models in India last year, adding Rs 5,000 to the beginning price. Another significant hike might make smartphones more difficult to position in areas like India, where pricing remains an essential consideration even in the premium class.
For perspective, the iPhone 17 Pro launched in India at Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max started at Rs 1,49,900. If Apple adopts a similar method this year, the future iPhone 18 Pro variants may be priced similarly, but a little rise is possible.
However, maintaining stable prices may be difficult. According to reports, Apple’s transition to a next-generation 2nm chip may drastically increase production costs. The corporation is also experiencing increasing component expenses as memory prices rise globally. The difficulty is not unique to Apple; numerous smartphone makers, including Xiaomi, OnePlus and Nothing, have also raised pricing for certain of their products in recent months.
Even still, analysts say Apple could choose to absorb some of the increased costs rather than passing them on to customers. Doing so would allow the company to retain momentum in key premium smartphone markets. Another analyst, Jeff Pu, has allegedly claimed that Apple may adopt an aggressive pricing strategy, either keeping prices stable or restricting any increases to a tiny amount.
Pricing information is currently unavailable due to the launch date being a few months away. As Apple approaches the introduction of the iPhone 18 Pro series, more details are expected to emerge. Stay connected to India Today Tech for the most recent information.
