Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops of Operation Savannah Shield to intensify military operations against terrorists, kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements operating across North Central Nigeria.
The directive was issued during the Army Chief’s operational visit to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force North Central at Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, Kwara State.
“The COAS charged troops of the Joint Task Force North Central, Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD, to intensify ongoing operations aimed at decisively routing kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements threatening peace and security within the Joint Operations Area,” the Nigerian Army said.
Lt. Gen. Shaibu stated that troops have maintained “strong operational momentum” to deny terrorists and kidnappers freedom of movement and prevent attacks on innocent citizens.
He further disclosed that Army Headquarters is deploying “necessary combat enablers and additional operational resources” to strengthen clearance operations and dismantle criminal hideouts across Kwara and Niger states.
The Army Chief also urged troops to remain disciplined, professional, and loyal while sustaining pressure on criminal networks threatening security in the region.
