Bello el-Rufai Secures ADC Ticket For Kaduna Reps Seat Unopposed

A member of the House of Representatives, Bello El-Rufai, has emerged as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the Kaduna North Federal Constituency after winning the party’s primary election unopposed.

El-Rufai, who currently represents the constituency, polled a total of 7,727 votes in the exercise held on Saturday, consolidating his position as the party’s flag bearer ahead of the next general election.

The lawmaker, who is the son of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, described his emergence as both humbling and a call to greater service.

In a statement issued shortly after the exercise, he expressed gratitude to party leaders, delegates and supporters for what he termed an overwhelming show of confidence in his leadership.

“Alhamdulillah. I am deeply honoured and humbled to emerge unopposed as the flag bearer of the African Democratic Congress for Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the just concluded primary election, with a total of 7,727 votes,” he said.

He also commended stakeholders of the party in Kaduna North for their support, pledging to sustain his legislative efforts and deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected.

“I sincerely thank the leadership of the party, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and the good people of Kaduna North for this overwhelming show of trust and confidence,” he added.

El-Rufai further noted that he had served diligently over the past three years, assuring constituents of his continued commitment to effective representation.

His emergence comes amid ongoing political realignments within opposition parties as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
