A heated property dispute in the Lekki Peninsula Scheme II area of Lagos State has taken a troubling turn, with allegations of disobedience to a court order, police-backed encroachment, and intimidation of lawful occupants raising fresh concerns over the rule of law.

The controversy surrounds a parcel of land at Block 69H, Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, currently at the centre of Suit No. LD/5991LM/2026 before the Lagos State High Court, presided over by Justice B.O. Kalaro.

The suit involves Advance Lincon Limited and the Lagos State Government alongside other parties, with ownership and possession of the disputed property still under judicial determination.

In a statement issued by the Citizens Rights Initiative and signed by Semiu Olanrewaju, the group alleged that Advance Lincon Limited—claiming to hold a valid Certificate of Occupancy issued in 2014—has been subjected to repeated harassment, criminal trespass, and attempts to dispossess it of the land despite a subsisting court order maintaining the status quo.

The statement further alleged that officers of the Lagos State Task Force, led by CSP Taiwo Akerele, have been providing cover for activities on the disputed site, in spite of an order reportedly issued by the court directing all parties to stay away pending the determination of the case.

According to the group, the court had explicitly instructed all parties to maintain the status quo, but construction activities allegedly continued on the land by representatives of another firm, identified as Lincoln Advance Radiology Service Limited.

The situation, the group claimed, has been worsened by the alleged invasion of the property by armed hoodlums, area boys, and suspected cultists, who reportedly threatened workers linked to the claimant company while development works proceeded under controversial circumstances.

The Citizens Rights Initiative also raised concerns over what it described as possible identity confusion arising from the similarity between the names of the two companies involved, warning that such ambiguity could be exploited to frustrate justice.

Describing the matter as more than a routine land dispute, the group alleged a broader pattern of disregard for judicial authority and misuse of security operatives in land-related conflicts within Lagos State.

“The rule of law remains the foundation of every democratic society,” the group stated, warning that continued disregard for court orders could erode public confidence in the justice system and embolden illegal land acquisition practices.

It called for urgent intervention by the Nigeria Police Force, the Police Service Commission, the Nigerian Bar Association, the Attorney-General of Lagos State, human rights groups, and anti-corruption agencies.

The group urged authorities to investigate the allegations, ensure strict compliance with the court’s directive, and guarantee the safety of all parties pending final judicial resolution.
