Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, publicly reacted to comments made by Bashir El-Rufai concerning the political relationship between the former governor and his successor, Uba Sani.
The development unfolded on Monday, May 25, 2026, when Hadiza responded through a post on her verified X account following widespread reactions to Bashir El-Rufai’s remarks on social media.
Earlier, Bashir El-Rufai had alleged that before Uba Sani was considered for political support, he allegedly visited members of the El-Rufai family to seek their backing.
According to Bashir, the current Kaduna governor reportedly went as far as appealing to some of the former governor’s wives and relatives in an effort to gain favor.
In the post shared on his official X handle, Bashir claimed that Uba Sani actively lobbied influential members of the El-Rufai family during the political consultations that preceded his emergence.
He wrote that the governor allegedly visited the homes of some of his stepmothers and sought their intervention on his behalf. Bashir further alleged that lobbying efforts also extended to Nasir El-Rufai’s older brother.
The comments quickly generated reactions online, with many social media users debating the political history between the former governor and his successor. While some users interpreted the remarks as evidence of behind-the-scenes political negotiations, others questioned the accuracy of the claims.
Amid the growing discussion, Hadiza Isma El-Rufai stepped in to clarify her own position regarding the allegation. In her response posted on X, she distanced herself from Bashir’s account, stating clearly that such an incident never occurred in her own case.
Addressing Bashir directly, she wrote that the alleged visit and appeal for support did not happen with her involvement.
