Ex-PDP aspirant Adeoye gets Lagos APM governorship ticket

A former consensus aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Laja Adeoye, has secured the governorship nomination ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Adeoye, who recently defected from the PDP, obtained the party’s nomination form in what the APM described as a major boost to its emerging “Reset Lagos” political agenda.

The nomination form was presented to him in Lagos by the Lagos State PDP–APM Alliance Chairman, Amos Fawole, on Saturday.

Fawole said Adeoye’s emergence marks the beginning of a new political direction for the party in the state.

Speaking after picking up the form, Adeoye said his decision to leave the PDP was driven by internal challenges within the party, particularly legal disputes that threatened his participation in the 2027 race.

“The ongoing legal tussle in the PDP was capable of shutting me out of the 2027 race. It created unnecessary distractions and shifted our focus,” he said.

“I therefore took a strategic decision to move to the APM, a fresh and dynamic party that offers Lagosians a real opportunity for a Reset.”

Adeoye said his campaign, previously known as the “Better Lagos Agenda,” had now been rebranded as the “Reset Lagos Movement,” also referred to as “Atunto Eko 1.0.”

According to him, the new platform aligns with a broader national political movement advocating governance reforms and improved service delivery.

“Our campaign has been rebranded as the Reset Lagos Movement to align with the national Reset Nigeria vision,” he said.

He promised to deliver what he described as transparent and people-centred governance if elected governor in 2027.

“Lagosians are yearning for a new leadership that will be transparent, fair to all, and truly represent their interests,” Adeoye said.

“I am ready to provide that leadership. The Atunto Eko is not just a slogan; it is a commitment to reset Lagos, fix infrastructure, restore security, create jobs, and make governance work for every resident irrespective of tribe or religion.”

Adeoye also expressed confidence that the APM is positioned to make significant political gains in the 2027 general elections at both state and national levels.

“The APM is ready to take power at the federal level and in several states across the federation,” he added.

Party leaders in Lagos welcomed his defection and candidacy, describing it as a significant development for the APM’s chances in the upcoming governorship race.
