Chief Olu Falae, the presidential candidate of the AD in the 1999 presidential election, has stated that he still believes he won the election.…....
In an interview with Channels Television, Falae said the military manipulated the election results in favor of Olusegun Obasanjo because of Obasanjo’s military background.
Chief Falae stated that despite his long history of working with military regimes, he was still not favored by the military government during the election.
Falae said he served under Obasanjo’s military government as a permanent secretary and also worked for about five years during the administration of former military ruler Ibrahim Babangida.
In Olu Falae’s words: “I believed then and I believe now that I won that election. Clearly the military wanted one of their own to succeed them despite the fact that I worked with the military, with General Obasanjo’s military government as permanent secretary, with Babangida’s government for 5 years”
