According to report by Tribune News on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the All Progressives Congress has published the names of House of Representatives aspirants who were not cleared to participate in the party’s National Assembly primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.…....
In a statement released by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party explained that the screening process was conducted in accordance with its established rules and internal guidelines.
However, no official explanation was given regarding the reasons behind the disqualification of the affected aspirants.
Ondo State recorded the highest number of aspirants denied clearance. Those affected include Adefisoye Tajudeen for the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Olusegun Victor Ategbole and Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo for Akoko South-East/South-West, Rt. Hon. Arowole Ayodeji Samuel for Owo/Ose, as well as Morufu Tosin Ibrahim, Oseni Oyeniyi, and Olaleye John Adedipe for Akoko North-East/North-West.
In Bauchi State, Dr. Bashir Ibrahim Bello was not cleared for the Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency contest, while in Ebonyi State, Idu Igariwe failed to secure clearance for the Afikpo/Edda seat.
Kogi State also had Sanni Salau Ogembe disqualified from the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency race.
Four aspirants from Rivers State were equally affected. They include retired Air Commodore John Azubuike Opara for Port Harcourt Federal Constituency, Anderson Allison Igbiki for Okrika/Ogu-Bolo, Awaji Imombek D. Abirite for Andoni/Opobo-Nkoro, and Boma Goodhead for Asari-Toru/Akuku-Toru.
Meanwhile, in Katsina State, Jamila Mani, an aide to Governor Dikko Radda, emerged victorious in the APC primary for the Mani/Bindawa Federal Constituency seat.
Elsewhere in Adamawa State, reports indicated that direct primaries in parts of Girei, Yola North, and Yola South experienced disruptions following the failure of party officials assigned to supervise the exercise to arrive at the designated venues.
The incidents created uncertainty among party members waiting for the commencement of voting.
