Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has reacted to the outcome of recent primary elections in Benue State, highlighting what he described as unusual political dynamics involving families connected to both the ruling and opposition parties.
In a statement shared on his official X handle on Monday, May 18, 2026, Keyamo commented on the emergence of candidates under the All Progressives Congress for House of Representatives seats in the state.
Among those who secured APC tickets was Regina Akume, wife of George Akume, who reportedly won the party’s ticket for the Gboko/Tarka federal constituency.
Also emerging as an APC candidate was Blessing Onuh, daughter of former Senate President David Mark, who currently serves as the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress. Blessing Onuh reportedly secured the APC ticket for the Otukpo/Ohimini federal constituency.
Reacting to the development, Keyamo noted the political implications of a situation where members of the same family could be connected to both the ruling APC and the opposition ADC during the forthcoming elections.
“David Mark’s family will campaign for both APC and ADC on the day of the Presidential/National Assembly elections,” Keyamo wrote.
