Super Eagles of Nigeria second-choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, lifted the Cypriot First Division trophy with Omonia Nicosia on May 3, after a commanding 3-0 win over Aris Limassol sealed the title.

The triumph ends Omonia’s five-year wait for domestic glory and marks Uzoho’s first league crown since arriving at the club in 2021. The Nigerian shot stopper, used largely as a deputy this season, made five league appearances, kept three clean sheets and conceded three goals.

Omonia will now turn attention to the UEFA Champions League, where they are set to enter from the second qualifying round next season.

Meanwhile, Belgium international, Romelu Lukaku, is preparing to leave Italian Serie A reigning champions, Napoli, after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to transfer expert Nicolò Schira.

Napoli have reportedly placed a €10 million price tag on the Belgian striker, whose deal runs until 2027, with interest building abroad. Schira said some clubs from “Turkey and Saudi have already shown interest in signing” the former Chelsea and Manchester United striker.

NOP NIGERIA reports that the uncertainty surrounding Lukaku’s spell at Napoli follows criticism from the club’s manager Antonio Conte, who expressed disappointment with Lukaku. The forward is also facing disciplinary action after missing training in recent weeks.
