I Don’t Know Why People Assume We Have Money, Some Of Us Have Money, But From Other Ventures— Rosman

According to a report by Daily Post on May 16, 2026, Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has challenged the widespread belief that Nigerian movie stars are wealthy, stating that many actors in the industry are facing financial hardship despite public perception.…....

Speaking during a podcast hosted by fellow actor Baaj Adebule, Rosman explained that many fans assume actors enjoy luxurious lifestyles simply because they appear on television and social media. However, she stressed that the reality behind the scenes is often very different for a large number of entertainers working in Nollywood.

Rosman noted that while some actors may appear financially stable, their earnings frequently come from businesses and investments outside the movie industry. According to her, acting alone does not guarantee financial comfort for most performers in Nigeria’s film sector.

She said, “The most overrated misconception about Nollywood stars is that we have money. I don’t know why people assume we have money. Some of us do have money, but from other ventures. But many of us are struggling financially.”

The actress’s remarks have sparked conversations about the economic realities within Nollywood, one of the world’s largest film industries by volume. Despite the industry’s global recognition and growing international audience, many actors have repeatedly spoken about irregular pay, limited opportunities, and the challenges of sustaining a stable income solely through acting.

Rosman’s comments also highlighted the pressure entertainers face in maintaining appearances that match public expectations, even when their financial situation may not reflect the glamorous image often associated with celebrity life in Nigeria.
