“I Don’t Owe Anybody Anything” — Cubana Chief Priest Breaks Silence After APC Primary Exit in Imo

Celebrity businessman and nightlife promoter Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has spoken out following the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries in Imo State, where he did not secure the party’s ticket.

In a series of posts shared on his Instagram story, the socialite dismissed rumours suggesting that he owed financial obligations to supporters who backed his political ambition.

He insisted that his decision to join politics was entirely personal and driven by a desire to serve, not by pressure or external influence.

According to him, he is not indebted to anyone over his political aspiration, stressing that the journey was based on his own conviction.

He said:

“I am not indebted to anybody over my aspiration. The aspiration was entirely mine, driven by my personal conviction and desire to serve.”

Cubana Chief Priest also addressed his absence at the primary election venue, explaining that he stepped aside after discussions with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma regarding zoning arrangements within the party.

He stated that he respected the party’s internal decisions after being informed that the position was not allocated to his local government area at this time.

According to him, that understanding influenced his decision not to participate in the voting process.

He added that he did not attend the venue of the primaries and instead returned to Lagos after the discussions.

Despite stepping back from the contest, he reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, insisting that he remains committed to the party’s direction.

The APC primary for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency was eventually won by Chukwugozie Moore, marking another setback for the entertainer’s short-lived political ambition.

Political observers say the outcome highlights the influence of zoning arrangements and internal party structure in determining electoral outcomes, even for high-profile aspirants.
