Terem Moffi has praised the impact of the Nigeria Premier Football League players invited to the Super Eagles camp ahead of the Unity Cup tournament in London.

The Super Eagles opened preparations on Saturday with 19 players in camp as coach Eric Chelle continued building his squad for the competition.

Chelle included seven home-based players in his squad selection, with talents drawn from Shooting Stars, Ikorodu City, Rivers United and league champions Enugu Rangers.

Moffi impressed by NPFL players

Speaking from camp, the Porto striker admitted he had been impressed by the quality shown by the domestic league players since training began.

“The boys have put in top-quality sessions. We’re proud to be here and happy to represent the country,” Moffi said.

“As for the boys from the domestic league, they’ve been excellent. We could see their quality from the very first minute. This is exactly what the Super Eagles need, a healthy mix of foreign and home-based talent.”

The forward also insisted there was no pressure within the squad despite expectations surrounding the tournament.

“We love it. There’s no pressure at all; we are just happy to be here, play football, enjoy ourselves, and win games.”

Super Eagles target winning start

Nigeria will begin their Unity Cup campaign against Zimbabwe, a team that frustrated the Super Eagles during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying series.

Both meetings between the two countries ended in draws, damaging Nigeria’s qualification hopes at the time.

Despite that recent record, Moffi remains confident the Super Eagles can secure victory this time.

“It doesn’t make it a difficult game, and there are no hard feelings,” he said.

“We are just here to play another match against Zimbabwe, so we will approach it to win. And we will win.”

With Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams unavailable for the tournament, Moffi is expected to play a leading attacking role for the three-time African champions.
