The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has told the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA), a government parastatal under the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, to stay away from Falomo Mosque in Ikoyi area of the state.
The Islamic rights organisation made the demand from the body following the sealing of the mosque on Tuesday afternoon.
MURIC made the demand in a statement by its Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.
It said: “We find LABSCA’s action outrageous and provocative. How can a mosque which is scheduled for Id festival prayers tomorrow morning be sealed today, Tuesday, 26th May, 2026?
“This is the height of insensitivity. Who is out to frustrate Lagos Muslims? Who is bent on stoking the fire of religious crisis in Lagos State? 24 hours to I’d al-kabiir prayers! The timing is curious.
“We demand immediate removal of the seal from our mosque. Every necessary document has been procured for the construction. We also call on His Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, to intervene.”
