Natasha’s Loyalists Mocks APC Over Yahaya Bello’s Senate Clearance Amid Ongoing Corruption Case

According to report by Vanguard on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, loyalists of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan have strongly criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the conduct of its recent House of Representatives and Senate primaries in Kogi State, describing the exercise as chaotic, poorly organised, and lacking transparency.…....

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, Senator Natasha’s media aide, Samuel Idoko, said the controversies surrounding the primaries had exposed serious weaknesses within the ruling party and raised questions about its ability to effectively manage political affairs in the state.

According to him, the disputes and allegations of irregularities that trailed the exercise reflected a lack of internal democracy and poor coordination.

Idoko stated that the events witnessed during the primaries, from the House of Representatives contests to the Senate selections, were embarrassing for a party that controls the state and projects itself as organised.

He argued that what played out revealed confusion, manipulation, and serious procedural lapses.

He particularly faulted the APC screening committee for clearing former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello to contest for the Senate despite his ongoing corruption case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Describing the decision as disturbing, Idoko said it undermined the party’s credibility and sent the wrong message about accountability and ethical leadership.

According to him, allowing Bello to participate despite the pending allegations suggests that the APC places little value on transparency and good governance.

Idoko, who is also contesting for a seat in the Kogi State House of Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the internal crisis rocking the APC has created a major opportunity for the opposition in Kogi State.

He expressed confidence that the PDP is gaining increasing support across Kogi East and Kogi Central, adding that the party is well-positioned to secure victories in both legislative and senatorial elections.

He urged party supporters to remain united and focused ahead of the polls, stressing that the PDP is committed to restoring fairness, justice, and effective governance in the state.

Idoko maintained that many residents are eager for change and are ready to support an alternative political direction in the upcoming elections.
