Mudashiru Obasa has emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives of Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obasa, who is the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, secured the party’s ticket unopposed during the APC primary election held on Saturday across the 13 political wards in the constituency.
Party delegates and members unanimously endorsed him following his formal declaration of interest at a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege on May 13.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Obasa expressed gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and residents of Agege for what he described as the overwhelming support and confidence reposed in him.
“I am sincerely grateful to our party leaders, stakeholders, supporters and the good people of Agege for the overwhelming support and confidence shown in yesterday’s APC House of Representatives primary election.
“Your massive support and the outcome of the primary are clear demonstrations of your belief in our shared vision for better representation, sustained development and stronger grassroots leadership for Agege.
“I do not take this mandate for granted. It is a responsibility I accept with humility and total commitment to continue serving our people diligently,” he said.

Obasa said that, if elected to the National Assembly, he would prioritise attracting greater federal presence to Agege, creating opportunities for youth empowerment, and improving infrastructure, education, healthcare and economic development.
“At the National Assembly, I will continue to champion the interests of Agege by pushing for more federal presence, youth empowerment opportunities, improved infrastructure, quality education, better healthcare delivery and economic initiatives that will directly impact our people.
“I will also remain accessible to the grassroots, maintain constant engagement with constituents and ensure that the voices of our people are heard loudly and clearly in Abuja,” he said.
Describing the outcome of the primary as a collective triumph, Obasa added, “Yesterday’s victory belongs to every loyal party member, every supporter and every resident who believes in continuity, progress and purposeful representation.
Obasa, who has served as Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for more than a decade, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Lagos politics.
The APC House of Representatives primaries commenced nationwide on Saturday, following a last-minute adjustment to the timetable by the party’s National Working Committee as part of preparations for Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
