Tinubu Does Not Really Trust Me Because I Am An Igbo Man And Because I Worked For Peter Obi Before” — Cubana Chief Priest Cries Out Days After Losing Out Securing APC House Of Reps Ticket

Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, says President Bola Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his ethnicity and his past support for Peter Obi in the 2023 elections.

The nightlife promoter made the claim on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, during a live session with streamer Peller, days after losing his bid for the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency in Imo State.

“Let me tell you, as I am now, Tinubu doesn’t really trust me as an Igbo man. He looks at me with one eye. He is still like ‘this one that has worked for Peter Obi before’,” Cubana Chief Priest said.

He admitted working for Obi during the 2023 presidential election but said he switched camps because he did not want to be on a losing side again. “I left Peter Obi because I didn’t want to keep losing. Peter Obi is not ready and I don’t see him winning the next election because there are people who are more ready than him,” he added.

Cubana Chief Priest, who serves as the Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, said he threw his weight behind Tinubu ahead of 2027 because he believes the president is better positioned to win. He argued that Obi lacks the structure and strategy needed to win, pointing to Tinubu’s support from over 30 governors.

The businessman picked the APC nomination form to contest for the House of Representatives seat but lost in the party primaries. After the loss, he told followers he never fully contested in the first place, a claim that drew mockery online.

Following the outcome, Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, sent him a message of encouragement on Instagram, urging him not to be discouraged by the setback. Cubana Chief Priest reposted the message, but said the experience confirmed his suspicion that Tinubu’s camp remains wary of him…See More
