Gospel singer Rachel Wandeto has died after she was allegedly doused with acid in Mwiki, Kasarani, following an incident linked to a tattoo of President William Ruto’s face.

The young woman was attacked on May 15 by unknown assailants, sustaining severe burns across her body. She later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
Her tragic death has sparked widespread reactions online, with netizens and some political figures criticising the circumstances surrounding the incident. Many have argued that there is nothing wrong with expressing political support through tattoos or slogans.

Following speculation surrounding her death, a video has resurfaced online showing her expressing strong loyalty and support for the President, leaving many heartbroken.

In the clip, Wandeto is seen alongside YouTuber 2mbili, who announced that members of President Ruto’s youth support team had come to appreciate her.
As she received branded merchandise, including caps and T-shirts, Wandeto stated that she would never remove the tattoo from her body.
“I can never take off this tattoo, even if I am given any amount of money,” she said.
The group, associated with “Vijana na Ruto” and “Warembo na Ruto,” met her along the streets and promised her shopping and other support items.
They said they would officially welcome her into the movement and support her after she faced criticism for the tattoo.
“We reward loyalty, and since we have identified her, we want to appreciate her and show her love. We also want to call on other youths who wish to join the movement. We will do some shopping for her and support her in other ways. Her tattoo will take her places,” said the Vijana na Ruto chairman.
