In a recent interview on Trust TV, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), spoke on political movements, youth-driven mobilization, and emerging coalitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.…....
During the interview, Kwankwaso stated, “We have tried to check what the Obidients are up to politically and what they want to do for Nigeria.” He made the remark while reflecting on consultations and engagements between his political movement and supporters of various reform-oriented groups across the country.
Kwankwaso explained that discussions with supporters of Peter Obi and his political base were aimed at understanding their priorities and long-term vision for Nigeria. According to him, such engagement revealed that many young Nigerians are primarily concerned about governance outcomes rather than traditional party loyalties.
He noted that the conversations showed a shared concern across political divides, particularly around issues such as education, employment opportunities, security, and economic stability. He added that these concerns have continued to shape the direction of opposition politics and coalition-building efforts.
The former Kano State governor stressed that the growing influence of youth-driven political movements has changed the nature of political engagement in Nigeria. According to him, parties must now respond to informed and highly active citizens who demand accountability and measurable results.
Kwankwaso further emphasized that the NDC remains open to dialogue and collaboration with groups that share similar reform objectives, insisting that the ultimate goal is to build a better Nigeria irrespective of political labels.
He concluded by stating that ongoing political realignments ahead of 2027 will continue to be shaped by issue-based discussions rather than sentiment, as Nigerians increasingly prioritize governance over identity politics.
