Anambra to Digitalise Legislative Operations

The Anambra State House of Assembly, would soon go digital in its operations to make things more accessible to citizens.

The Speaker, Dr Somtochukwu Udeze disclosed this at third anniversary of the 8th Assembly/Democracy Day celebration in Awka.

The state Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo and other top State functionaries attended the event.

The Speaker stated that digitalisation would help expand the scope of operations and reach, while modernising the lawmaking processes for easy accessibility.

According to him, “As an Assembly, we remain committed to strengthening our institution. We are working towards improving staff welfare, expanding legislative infrastructure, including the proposed administrative block, and digitalizing the entire legislative operations and modernizing the lawmaking process to make it much functional”. 

He commended Gov Soludo for enabling the legislature provide the state with purposeful service such as lawmaking, providing oversight, and representing their interests. 

Soludo used the occasion to charge citizens to be more committed to strengthening democracy, pointing out that it remained the best option over dictatorship.

He stated, “June 12 is a day to celebrate the advent of democracy. It is a landmark to our history. We will never take it for granted. We have to pay homage to those who paid the supreme sacrifice for the struggle for democracy in the country. Freedom and democracy can never be equated to dictatorship”.

Ibirogba Affirms Abisco’s Candidacy, Calls for Unity  

The Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for South West Zone, Dr. Lateef Ibirogba, has thrown his full weight behind the candidacy of Princess (Hon.) Olabisi Adebajo, popularly known as ABISCO, as the party’s candidate for the House of Representatives in Alimosho Federal Constituency. 

He made this known during a thank-you visit to his office on Friday, 5 June 2026, as part of ABISCO’s ongoing reconciliation efforts aimed at uniting the APC family in Alimosho ahead of the commencement of campaign activities.

Speaking during the visit, ABISCO described Dr. Ibirogba as a national stakeholder of the APC and one of Alimosho’s most influential representatives at the national level of the party. She noted that engaging with him at this critical period is a positive step towards fostering unity within the APC in Alimosho Federal Constituency and strengthening the party’s chances of success in the forthcoming general election.

In his response, Dr. Ibirogba commended the reconciliation move and reaffirmed his support for Princess (Mrs.) Olabisi Adebajo as the authentic and recognized APC candidate for Alimosho Federal Constituency. He advised her to broaden her team by accommodating all caucuses within the party to enhance acceptance across board, while also urging her to remain patient with aggrieved members until they eventually come around in the spirit of party unity and progress.
