BREAKING: Gombe Tackles Food Insecurity, Distributes Fertilizer To Farmers

Gombe State has taken proactive steps to guarantee food security for its people and other parts of the country with the distribution of subsidized fertilizer for the 2026 farming season.

About twelve thousand metric tonnes of fertilizer will be distributed with a special monitoring committee set up to ensure the inputs reach real farmers without hitches.

Representatives of both state and federal agencies are projecting a major agricultural boom this year, backed by strategic planning.

While launching the 2026 distribution exercise, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya emphasized that this intervention aims to supercharge crop yields and keep people on the farms.

The subsidy is just one of the plans. Governor Yahaya explained that sustained partnerships with the Federal Government and the World Bank are paying off.

Hundreds of free water pumps, sprayers, weeders, and tractors are also being distributed to cooperatives.

The Governor is urging beneficiaries to adopt climate-smart practices to maximize their harvest.

He also made a strong case for peace, stating that harmony between farmers and herders is vital to safeguarding rural development.

Meanwhile, the government is warning racketeers to steer clear as anyone caught hoarding or diverting these subsidized inputs will face the full wrath of the law.
