The emotional scenes unfolded at the City Mortuary, where relatives gathered to identify the bodies of their loved ones following the accident that claimed six lives and left several others injured. Reports indicate that the matatu overturned along Enterprise Road while allegedly engaging in risky road stunts.
Speaking to NTV, one grieving woman broke down in tears as she questioned why the driver allegedly chose to perform the stunt.
“Why did he have to do that Manyoka stunt just to prove he was a champion? My brother is now gone because of it,” she lamented. “My mother is suffering from heartache after receiving the news.”
Another distraught parent said his child died a painful death during the crash.

“My son was crushed in that accident. He suffered a terrible death. We want those responsible to be held accountable,” he said.
The bereaved families called on authorities to conduct thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash and establish whether negligence or reckless driving contributed to the tragedy.
The grieving woman also challenged passengers to be more vocal when drivers engage in dangerous behaviour.
“Passengers should speak up when they see a driver driving recklessly. Maybe if someone had warned him or reported him, these lives would have been saved,” she said.
The accident has reignited public debate about the dangerous stunt culture associated with some matatus, with many Kenyans calling for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
Reports from the scene indicated that the vehicle overturned after allegedly performing stunts, prompting renewed concerns about reckless driving on Nairobi roads.
As families continue mourning their loved ones, they say justice for the five victims will be the only consolation for a tragedy they believe could have been prevented.
