A devastating fire outbreak has rocked Lagos Island after a major commercial building on Broad Street was engulfed in flames, triggering panic among workers, residents, and emergency responders.
Videos circulating online showed thick smoke billowing from the building as firefighters battled to contain the inferno. The incident reportedly affected a structure housing banking and commercial operations within the Lagos business district.
Unconfirmed reports circulating across several blogs and social media platforms claim that at least 37 people lost their lives in the tragedy. However, as of the time of filing this report, emergency management agencies and relevant authorities had yet to release an official casualty figure.
Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes as occupants attempted to escape the building while rescue efforts continued.
