Former Chelsea coach Rosenior linked with Paris FC role

Former Chelsea coach Liam Rosenior has emerged as one of the leading candidates to become Super Eagles winger Moses Simon’s manager at Paris FC.

According to French publication Le Parisien, Rosenior is among the preferred candidates to replace Antoin Kombouaré, who is expected to leave the Ligue 1 club despite guiding the team away from relegation last season.

Kombouaré took charge of Paris FC at the end of February following the departure of Stéphane Gilli and steered the club to an 11th-place finish, ending the campaign 12 points clear of the relegation play-off spot.

His expected departure could mark a fresh start for Simon, who only recently joined Paris FC after previously working under Kombouaré at Nantes.

Paris FC have reportedly drawn up a shortlist of possible replacements, with Rosenior featuring prominently among the club’s preferred options.

The 41-year-old Englishman previously managed RC Strasbourg and also had a brief spell in charge at Chelsea. French outlet L’Équipe also reported that he was considered for the managerial vacancy at Nice before the club appointed Olivier Pantaloni.

Despite attracting interest from several clubs, Rosenior was initially expected to take a break from management following his departure from Stamford Bridge. However, Paris FC’s project could convince him to return sooner than planned.

Habib Beye is also under consideration for the position.

The current Marseille coach is reportedly expected to leave his role to make way for Bruno Genesio, although Le Parisien reports there are reservations within Paris FC over a possible appointment.

The report also stated that Morocco coach Walid Regragui is not being considered for the role despite leading the Atlas Lions to the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Paris FC’s choice of manager could play a key role in Simon’s first full season at the club as they prepare for life in the French top flight.
