The Kebbi State Police Command has said it is looking into reports of the alleged resurgence of the “Sai Malam” group in Argungu Local Government Area through actionable intelligence.
In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the command said it is aware of the reports and had already begun gathering and reviewing intelligence to determine the true situation.
The police explained that investigations are ongoing and that authorities are working to verify the claims before drawing conclusions.
The Command also clarified that the “Sai Malam” group has not been designated as a terrorist organisation under any existing proscription order.
According to the statement, suspects earlier prosecuted by the Police in February 2026 in Zuru were arrested and investigated in connection with alleged criminal activities.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects included suspected counterfeit currencies of different countries, including the Nigerian Naira, United States Dollar, CFA Franc, and Libyan Dinar, as well as suspected ritual or occult items and other related materials.
The Police further disclosed that no firearms were recovered from the suspects during the investigation. The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring residents that it would continue to take decisive action against all forms of criminal activity in accordance with the law.
SP Usman urged members of the public to remain calm and continue to cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
