Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command have recovered a Toyota Hilux stolen from Abuja and taken to Kaduna State, with one suspect arrested in connection with the theft.
According to a statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the recovery was made possible through a swift response by operatives of the Maitama Division.
The incident occurred on June 20, 2026, when the Divisional Police Officer of the Maitama Division, CSP Altine Daniel, received a distress call reporting the theft of a white Toyota Hilux, 2014 model, with registration number BWR 712 CV, from the Wuse II area of the FCT.
The complainant reported that the vehicle was parked at approximately 1:30 p.m. and discovered missing just four minutes later, with an unknown individual seen driving it away.
The DPO immediately led a team to the scene, after which all police formations and deployments along entry and exit routes in the FCT were alerted to conduct stop-and-search operations.
With the aid of digital tracking technology, the vehicle was traced and recovered at Kubacha village, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, at approximately 3:30 p.m. the same day.
The suspect and the recovered vehicle are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances of the theft and identify possible accomplices.
The FCT Commissioner of Police has urged residents to remain security conscious and take proactive steps to protect their vehicles and valuables.
