IGP Tunji Disu Arrives Enugu for Commissioning of First Regional DNA Forensics Centre

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Tunji Disu, has arrived at the Enugu Government House. He’s in the state for the official commissioning of the Centre for DNA Forensics and Criminal Investigation, CeDFoCI, located at Godfrey Okoye University, Ugwuomu Nike.

The facility is a first-of-its-kind project in the sub-region. It was established through a partnership between the Enugu State Government, Godfrey Okoye University, and the DNA Learning Center Nigeria. Governor Peter Mbah is set to officially commission the centre.

CeDFoCI is dedicated to molecular biology research, forensic science education, DNA analysis, and criminal investigation services. Officials say it will bridge the gap in forensic infrastructure and strengthen scientific capacity for law enforcement and healthcare institutions.

The centre is expected to serve as a regional hub for advanced research, professional training, and forensic diagnostics. It will also provide critical support for law enforcement operations, healthcare delivery, and evidence-based public policy across Enugu State and Nigeria.
